Subsea 7 Presents Project on Autonomous Technology at Industry Breakfast at OTC

Subsea 7 Inc, one of the world's leading subsea engineering and construction companies, will showcase its expertise in the development of remote technologiesat the “Innovations in UK Subsea Technology” Business Breakfast at this week's Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston.

Subsea 7's Global Technology Manager, John Mair, will present an update on the latest autonomous underwater vehicle technology, the Prototype Autonomous Inspection Vehicle (PAIV), being developed by Subsea 7 in collaboration with SeeByte and funded by BP and Chevron.

The PAIV concept is one of a broad range of products available from Subsea 7's Life-of-Field (LOF) Services offering and has a unique potential to revolutionise LOF projects. Subsea 7 and SeeByte's vision is to provide operators with a capability deployed from a host facility to provide a low-risk inspection and light intervention system to aid field integrity management. This will significantly change the way in which offshore inspection and intervention activities are carried out and has the potential to significantly reduce costs by removing the need for a dedicated support vessel. The presentation will provide a clear insight into how the technology may be applied and will share the latest results that demonstrate how close the technology is to being delivered.

Part of a series of breakfast briefings organised by UK Trade & Investment during OTC week, the event will be hosted by Subsea UK at the Hilton Post Oak hotel, at 07.00hrs on Tuesday 5 May. The event will demonstrate the significant value of innovative technology in improving efficiency and reducing costs in subsea operations.

PAIV has been short-listed as one of six finalists for the 26th Annual Woelfel Best Mechanical Engineering Achievement (BMEA) Award to be presented this evening at a private cocktail reception held in downtown Houston's Museum District.
