Specialist back-deck equipment provider Maritime Developments is poised to be a big pull at this year's Subsea Expo.

That's because a fully operational 40-tonne winch and 50-tonne, 4-track tensioner will form the centrepiece of the company's presence at the international exhibition in Aberdeen.

The winch will be on the company’s stand, while the tensioner will be at the entrance to the event, which is being staged at the city's exhibition and conference centre from February 11 to 13.

Maritime Developments commercial director Mike Gaskin said: "Our tensioner and winch ranges form key elements of our market offering. Subsea Expo represents a prime opportunity to showcase them and let visitors see, at first hand, why our kit is becoming an increasingly common feature of back-deck operations internationally.

"We've recently secured fresh orders for specifications of both products and, as we broaden our range even further, we are confident our market share will continue to grow.

"The winch and tensioner models are sure to be eye-catching features of this year's event, which is an important and valuable platform for Maritime Developments.

"We're looking forward to welcoming existing and prospective customers, as well as other industry friends, to our Subsea Expo stand."

There will also be an opportunity for visitors to win prizes as part of a special draw being held by Maritime Developments to mark the company's 15 years in business.

The business recently secured the first order for its innovative portable overside vertical lay system (PVLS) from a leading installation contractor. Maritime Developments will deliver a bespoke vertical lay system tower along with a 4-track tensioner to support a major North Sea field development.

The company has also delivered a package of 10 winches, ranging from five-tonne to 40-tonne specifications, for an international client. It is the third winch package provided to the client to support product handling at a number of locations around the world, with a fourth scheduled for delivery later this year. Each package also features a Maritime Developments 10-tonne overbender tensioner.

Maritime Developments has also delivered a 500-tonne reel drive system (RDS) to a global energy services business in support of a project in the United States. It is the fourth RDS order executed by the business since the product's launch in 2013: three 400-tonne systems have already been supplied to global clients.

In addition, a Maritime Developments programme, focused upon designing and introducing its first 4-track 75-tonne tensioner, is nearing completion, while the company has already added its bespoke 4-track 50-tonne pipelay tensioner to its rental range.

The company has also entered a partnership agreement with high performance pipeline manufacturer Magma Global. The joint venture will design and manufacture a complete back-deck package for deployment and retrieval of Magma's unique m-pipe® product.

The business, which will be on Stand 23 at Subsea Expo 2015, has its offices in Aberdeen and a manufacturing facility in Peterhead. It presently has a team of 56 but is looking to add another six personnel to help it meet customer demand.
