India Achieves Landmark Oil and Gas Safety Training Accreditation from Academy

Aberdeen-headquartered OPITO – The Oil & Gas Academy has awarded an Indian industry education centre the country's first ever accreditation to deliver Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET) to world-class standards.
Suraksha Marine has received approval to deliver three courses – BOSIET, Tropical BOSIET and H2S - at their facility in Mumbai. The courses, which are recognised around the globe as the best in the industry, ensure offshore personnel attain the highest levels of competency when dealing with emergency and critical response situations.
The move brings personnel trained in India in line with offshore workers across Europe, South America, the Middle East, Asia and Australasia.
The Academy's director for international business development, Ian Laing, said: “We are delighted to see some real progress being made by the Indian energy industry to ensure thousands of offshore workers are trained in a safe environment to the standards as set by employers.
“The availability of locally delivered and Academy approved training in India will be of significant value to employers seeking to ensure the safety and competence of their workforce and it is a credit to the efforts of the whole team at Suraksha Marine that they have achieved approval to deliver these courses.”
The milestone event was celebrated at a reception hosted by Suraksha Marine and attended by guests from across the Indian oil and gas sector.

To date, 26 countries worldwide use Academy learning products with a staggering 110,000 people trained to OPITO safety standards in 2008.
