A north-east energy industry specialist has appointed a new technical director as it looks to consolidate its fully integrated offering.
Fisher Offshore has welcomed Lee Hanson to the role. He brings with him over 20 years of experience in mechanical engineering design, project management and engineering management within the oil and gas industry.
Tasked with consolidating Fisher’s technical engineering solutions alongside pursuing new design and development opportunities, Lee previously held management roles within some of the subsea sector’s leading service companies including Oceaneering, Hallin Marine and Perry Slingsby Systems.
He replaces Fisher’s outgoing technical director Mike Robertson, who will retire in June after nearly 30 years of service within the oil, gas and subsea sectors. He had been employed by Fisher Offshore for eight years and will remain with the company in a consultancy role.
Lee’s appointment follows Fisher’s recent expansion into Singapore as the firm embraces growing demand for its integrated services. The company, which was a recent finalist in the company of the year category at the Subsea UK Awards, now operates a centre and workshop situated at Labuan with offices located in the Loyang Offshore Base, at the heart of the island’s offshore zone. The base provides its full range of services with support from the team in Scotland.
Jack Davidson, managing director of Fisher Offshore, is delighted to welcome Lee to the role.
He said: "I’m thrilled to welcome Lee to Fisher Offshore. He has a wealth of experience that will be of great benefit to the company moving forward. I’d also like to thank Mike for his service over the last eight years and wish him well in his retirement.
"As we look to reinforce our integrated offering, Lee’s main role will be to find ways that enable our various services to come together that will truly allow us to offer consolidated solutions to both our current and prospective client base. We want to ensure that all to allow our solutions to be of added value and efficiency to the end user and we’ll be looking to enhance this further throughout the months ahead.
"Along with this, Lee will also be a mentor figure to both our younger engineers and new starts to the company. This ensures that the high level of quality, that Fisher is well-known for, is fostered right from the outset.
"Lee’s experience and reputation really does speak for itself and we look forward to tapping into this as we look to embrace new opportunities in providing reliable integrated solutions to the energy industry.”
Lee Hanson added: "I’m very pleased to be part of a dynamic, growing company and look forward to exploring new design and development opportunities on its behalf.
"Fisher already has a vastly experienced and talented team in place and I can’t wait to start playing my part in its success. It’s an exciting opportunity for me and one that I will relish.”
