Aquatic Wins Contract on $10bn Moho Nord Subsea Project in West Africa

A UK-based subcontractor of Total E&P Congo has awarded a contract to Aquatic Engineering and Construction, an Acteon company, to work on the $10bn Moho Nord subsea project, located off the coast of the Republic of Congo, West Africa.
Around 75km off the coast of Pointe Noire, the Moho Nord subsea deepwater offshore project is the latest to be developed in the Moho-Bilondo license.
According to Aquatic, its ten-month campaign portion is set to mobilise in October 2015.
Under the terms of the contract, Aquatic will supply reel drive systems, along with a team of supervisors and technicians.
The technicians will in turn offer technical expertise and support in operating the equipment hired for the duration of the operation.
Aquatic will also be involved in the installation of 23km of subsea flexible pipes and 50km of umbilicals.
Aquatic Engineering and Construction managing director Martin Charles said: "This project is the most significant for Aquatic to date, and affords us the opportunity to forge a closer relationship with our customer in a new geographical location, while levering support from other Acteon Group operating companies.
"Our people and equipment will work in close partnership with our customer to deliver the project safely and on time, where output is expected to achieve 140,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day by 2017."
The Moho Nord development lies in water depths ranging from 450m to 1,200m, and comprises a total of 28 subsea wellheads tied back to floating production units (FPUs), with 17 more wells from a new tension leg platform (TLP).
The project is expected to have the capacity to produce 140,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d) by 2016.
Three other Acteon companies, including 2H Offshore, SRP and UTEC Survey, have been awarded work on the subsea project since it was launched in 2013.
