BJ Services Employees Earn Graduate Certificate in Project Management
17 July 2009
BJ Services announced that eight employees in its process and pipeline services group graduated with a Graduate Certificate in Project Management. The certificate, which is the equivalent SCQF (Scottish Credit & Qualifications Framework) level of an ordinary degree, is recognised throughout Europe and complies with the Bologna Accord.
The graduates, who participated in the July 16th graduation ceremony hosted at His Majesty's Theatre in Aberdeen, were the first to complete the company's new project management training programme. Launched in February 2008, the programme was developed by BJ Services, the RGU's commercial arm Univation Ltd and the Aberdeen Business School.
During the past year, the candidates completed four 12-week modules, including Project Fundamentals, Managing Change, Commercial Realities for Project Management, and Project Strategy and Leadership. BJ Services and RGU delivered the training in the classroom and online. Those graduates seeking to continue their education can now access an MSc Degree in Project Management.
“We're very pleased with the feedback from our first class of graduates,” said Les Graves, BJ Services, process and pipeline services product line manager. “Not only did they learn new techniques that improve the way they manage projects, they cultivated stronger working relationships with their peers across BJ Services' global network. As a result, they approach projects with greater confidence. BJ and its clients reap the benefits in the form of more efficiently managed projects. It's a ‘win-win' situation for everyone,” he added.
Looking ahead, BJ Services will offer the project management course to a new group of employees.
