Technip Awarded Gold Standard by Healthy Working Lives
10 August 2009
Technip UK has recently successfully achieved Gold Standard status from Scottish Health Agency, Healthy Working Lives (HWL). This award, which is the agency's highest accolade, recognises the company's long term commitment to helping improve the health and wellbeing of its people.
To achieve the award Technip was required to clearly demonstrate that it had undertaken events and campaigns in support of a variety of health issues including; healthy eating and exercise, mental health and stress, and information about Scotland's so-called ‘big three' namely, heart attacks, strokes and cancer. Technip's efforts were documented in a weighty submission, which described the company's long term strategy and commitment, as well as its annual action plans and performance in relation to health and the environment.
This award follows on from the company's success with the previous health initiative, Scotland's Health at Work (SHAW) under which the company was also awarded the Gold Standard. Healthy Working Lives replaced SHAW in 2007 and companies wanting to retain their award status had to be fully reassessed to ensure they were covering HWL's wider health and environmental agenda.
Ron Cookson, Managing Director said: "I am extremely pleased that our efforts to help our people make positive health choices have been recognised at the highest level. The wellbeing of all our staff is of utmost importance to us and through HWL we are able to offer practical information and advice that can help them maintain a healthy lifestyle. I wish to thank and congratulate the Healthy Working Lives team and our key suppliers and partners who support our work.”
