flexlife Makes it a Hat-trick in Prestigious Awards Ceremony
29 September 2009
flexlife has continued an outstanding year of success with a further hat-trick of awards, including two national titles.
The Aberdeen-based flexible pipe specialist's innovation was recognised again at a high level, with the presentation recently at the Northern Star Business Awards ceremony in Aberdeen of the Research & Development accolade.
The run of good news then continued with flexlife being awarded the overall Scottish trophy for Most Promising New Business, sponsored by BT Business, and Scotland's Award for Innovation Through Technology, sponsored by Dell. They were one of only two companies in the North-east to go on to triumph in the Scottish awards and will now compete for the British trophies in London later this year.
Scottish judges were unanimous in their decision, praising flexlife for its commitment and determination to create an innovative new product.
flexlife director of projects John Marsden said: “We knew we had a fantastic team and great products and this is amazing recognition of that. This year has been a brilliant one for us with high levels of work for major new clients and our strong focus on bringing new products to market that can have a significant impact for operators. To be honoured at a national level is just the icing on the cake.''
Earlier this year flexlife scooped the title of most innovative company in Scotland at the National Business Awards for Scotland – as well as reaching the finals in the best SME category - and is now in the running for the UK title later this year. The company was also voted Best Newcomer in the Subsea UK 09 awards, is one of only three Scottish companies in the race for the HSBC Start-Up Star awards out of thousands of entries, reached the finals of the Small Company, Great Performance section in the Scottish Offshore Achievement Awards and is shortlisted for a Grampian Business Award for innovation.
Their latest treble victory was revealed at an awards dinner at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre, with adventurer Ben Fogle the keynote speaker. It was the sixth event in the annual series organized by Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce.
Clinching the a national Chamber of Commerce award would mean flexlife has a chance of collecting the Winner of Winners £50,000 cash prize. This goes to the category winner that judges believe stands out from the rest.
The national winners will be announced at the National Maritime Museum in London on November 26.
