Subsea supply chain businesses based in the region and involved in the subsea sector focused on underwater activity in relation to oil & gas, defence, oceanology and marine renewables, and discussed the opportunities and challenges facing the sector.

During the afternoon delegates visited the National Composites Centre (NCC) which is the UK''s leading centre of excellence and innovation in composites technology. Opened in 2011, the NCC provides collaborative, open-access, research, technology and people development, delivering world-class innovation and knowledge transfer for the design, manufacture and application of composites. In 2014, the NCC completed a £28 million expansion, greatly enhancing the capabilities and capacity, enabling a greater focus on supporting sectors such as automotive. The cutting-edge industrial learning facilities offer a unique opportunity for organisations to have staff trained in a realistic and safe workplace setting. The NCC offers a programme of training and workshops for a wide range of composites engineering and manufacturing disciplines. The NCC is hosting the UK pavilion at JEC World 2016, in collaboration with UK Trade and Investment and Composites UK, exhibiting with 14 of the UK''s innovative and growing composites companies.
