Castrol Offshore Ups Fluids Production Capacity

Castrol Offshore has moved its American headquarters to BP's WestLake campus in Houston. The company has also upgraded its operations in Texas to the Martin Midstream Mega Lubricants subsea blending facility, enabling a larger supply of products, including Transaqua-branded subsea control and storage fluids. The facility began fluids production in September.

“A major highlight for Castrol Offshore this year has been its involvement with W&T Offshore on the Daniel Boone field development, which saw the production umbilical filled with Castrol's Transaqua HT control fluid and Transaqua SF storage fluid,” says Carmen Pino, Castrol Offshore's operations director for the Americas. “In addition, we began working with Petrobras on its Cascade/Chinook project, deploying our Transaqua HT subsea control fluid in its umbilical.”

In other news, Pride International has awarded Castrol Offshore the first fills for four new drillships under construction in South Korea. The first two drillships, scheduled for completion in 2010, are under contract for BP in the US Gulf of Mexico. The remaining rigs are scheduled for completion in 2011.
