DIT: A New Upstream Strategy in Mexico's Oil & Gas sector
Recent changes in the law have opened up Mexico's upstream market. In the last 2 years, 48 new companies have been added to a market formally dominated by the state-owned company Pemex.
The new strategy for assigning oil fields is split into bidding rounds. Some go to Pemex, who can then subcontract or even farm out. The rest are open to third parties.
