Nautronix are pleased to announce that the NASNet® system has been described as having ‘an enhanced level of performance above other acoustic positioning systems’ in an independent study entitled ‘NASNet® Technical & Operational Feasibility study for a Dynamic Positioning (DP) input’.
The study carried out by Blade Offshore Services Limited over the last 3 months fully examines NASNet®; it’s system architecture and performance capabilities, and compares the results to core industry guidelines and standards.
The findings state that ‘NASNet® can not only provide an enhanced level of performance in terms of reliability and accuracy but also in terms of real time update frequency of DP’.
Nautronix Operations Director, Alan Nicol described the study as “true validation for NASNet® as a credible and beneficial DP reference system”.
NASNet® which has been developed by Nautronix since 2001 is an integrated multi-user position reference, navigation and communication solution for subsea operations. The systems ‘core technical attribute’ is Nautronix’ bespoke ADS2 (Acoustic Digital Spread Spectrum) signalling technology, which the study states ‘has enabled the system to provide a high level of data repeatability, stability and accuracy.’
NASNet® has a long track record in the defence market but is emerging in the Offshore Oil and Gas industry with recent use on the Agabami and Frade fields by Subsea 7 and Acergy.
Mr Nicol added “This study will hopefully highlight to the market that NASNet® is game changing technology capable of a variety of subsea applications, including use as a DP input”
