Technip has announced that its UK Graduate Development Programme has received full reaccreditation from engineering body, Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE). The highly successful two year program has been reaccredited for the next three years, which is the maximum duration awarded by IMechE.
Accreditation (and successive reaccreditation) is given to companies who demonstrate commitment to the Monitored Professional Development Scheme (MPDS) and who provide enough opportunity and feedback to enable engineers to successfully apply for chartered status.
MPDS is IMechE’s preferred and approved professional development program for new engineers and compliance with this forms a major part of the reaccreditation process. The scheme has been developed in conjunction with industry to ensure new engineers have the opportunity to develop the necessary competence required of a chartered engineer.
MPDS and the online system, e-MPDS is also approved by the Engineering Council UK who have deemed it a quality assured route to professional registration. Therefore, companies who sign up are bound to meet certain requirements to ensure excellent quality of learning. These requirements include;
- Regular monitoring of trainees by professionally registered Engineer
- Provision of support for Trainees and Mentors
- Trainees must maintain the disciplined reporting structure of MPDS
- Trainees must maintain Membership of IMechE
Sandra Mulligan, IMechE Regional Manager said: “I am delighted to present Technip with its MPDS re-accreditation. The IMechE upholds very high standards to ensure the professional engineers of tomorrow receive the best training and support today.
Sandra added: The program run by Technip provides a fantastic opportunity for their engineers to develop strong technical ability together with good business understanding and leadership skills. This ultimately benefits the company, the profession and Scotland plc’’
Ron Cookson, Managing Director said: It is great news that our highly successful Graduate Development Program has been reaccredited by IMechE. Ensuring the effective professional development of our new and established engineers is critical to Technip and our customers. I would like to thank all from Technip who have contributed to this achievement.”
