Jack is as Director Commerce responsible for all commercial activities within Boskalis Subsea Cables & Flexibles (formerly VBMS) which includes innovation, business development, sales and tendering related to subsea cable & umbilical installation worldwide. Beside the main market in Northwest Europe he is also responsible for the development of new markets in US and Taiwan. Previously, he was Managing Director of VolkerInfra Ltd and as such responsible for the onshore cable installation, trenchless solutions, landfalls and outfalls in the UK. During his time in the UK, VolkerInfra executed the onshore and landfall scopes of large interconnector projects like Britned and the East West Interconnector project. Graduated as civil engineer, Jack spent the first 10 years of his working life in the international dredging industry and was involved in major infrastructural projects like Storebelt and Oresund bridges and tunnels. After joining the VolkerWessel group in 1990, he stood at the cradle of VBMS, being part of the very exciting first years of offshore wind cable installation and seen the industry grow to maturity. VBMS was taken over by Boskalis in 2016 and has been renamed to Boskalis Subsea Cables & Flexibles in April 2018.
Bert van der Velden - Comercial Director
Bert is an all-round industry professional with a track record of more then 20 years experience in both the maritime and offshore industry. Bert is currently commercially responsible for the Diving and ROV activities of Boskalis in Europe, Africa and Americas. He joined SMIT/Boskalis Subsea in 2011 in various commercial and project management positions, after working for 5 years in SMIT Salvage where he was responsible for innovation and business development for the wreck removal and emergency response salvage market. Bert started his career in the maritime container handling and port equipment industry, where he worked in various engineering positions in the office and field worldwide, project and commercial management, up to the sales and realisiation of fully automated container terminals in projects over USD 150 million.
With a fleet of 5 modern DSV’s Boskalis Subsea Services provides the offshore oil & gas and renewables industry with a broad range of Subsea services and integrated solutions. The latest additions to the fleet of Boskalis have been the ex-Harkand DSVs Atlantis and Davinci. The Atlantis is currently back in operation in the North Sea and the Davinci is operating in the Gulf of Mexico.
During this presentation Bert will focus on the Subsea IRM market in the North Sea, and will put some highlight on the subsea lifetime extension project of a wellhead jacket of Maersk Oil executed in a period of 2 years offshore in the North Sea.
