OILFIELD RESERVOIR SOURING SIMULATION AND FORECASTING
At its UK-based laboratories, Rawwater uses specially developed pressurised bioreactors - operated at temperatures and pressures that mimic specific downhole conditions - to help operators determine if, when and to what extent reservoir souring will occur. With this information to hand, Rawwater then advises on the most cost-effective strategies for controlling the production of hydrogen sulfide (H2S). In operation for more than 15 years, Rawwater’s pressurised bioreactor suites have accrued the equivalent of many hundreds of years of highly valuable oilfield souring data.
In addition to its pressurised bioreactor suites, Rawwater also uses DynamicTVS©, a highly sophisticated predictive software modelling program to forecast the likelihood of oilfield reservoir souring. Developed over many years, DynamicTVS© uses operational, planning and survey data to generate future profiles of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) in all phases under any temperature and pressure conditions. The DynamicTVS© database is so comprehensive, it can also be used to provide a good indication as to whether or not a reservoir is a likely souring candidate in advance of full reservoir modelling and production.
CEMENT-FREE PLUGGING & ABANDONMENT
Rawwater is also renowned for its expertise in the development and application of molten bismuth alloys as a specialist alternative to cement plugs for ensuring oil and gas well integrity onshore, offshore and in subsea applications. Inventors of the Bismuth Plug, Rawwater created the world’s first ‘anticipated’ 3,000-year-life underwater cast metal seal. The metallurgy has been certified by Bureau Veritas as fit-for-purpose for extreme life applications in the oil and gas industry and qualified to the V0 (highest rating) of ISO 14310.
