Event background
Global Underwater Hub’s Operator Forum recently hosted a successful Subsea Springboard session focused on advancements and applications for autonomous surface vessels and autonomous underwater vehicles.

Due to the interest generated by the session and the potential solutions presented, Global Underwater Hub is hosting this one-day Offshore Autonomy in Action workshop at its Westhill premises on Wednesday, 4 December

The event will allow invited companies that are recognised as leaders in the field of offshore underwater autonomy to showcase their current technology and services to a broader audience.

Event format

This full-day workshop is set to bring the autonomous technology used miles offshore to life on the beach. Presentations will demonstrate the current capabilities of remote underwater operating systems and sub-systems aimed at increasing operational and technical reliability and reducing costs and emission footprints.

During the day, each presenting company will:
  • Provide a company introduction and illustrate its track record to date
  • Present its offshore autonomy prowess, either as a live, real-time demonstration, or from a recorded video with full commentary
  • Participate in a Q&A session.

Spaces at this exclusive free to attend event are limited, so book early to secure your space.   Registration closes Friday, 29 November.

Further event information, including the full programme and presenters, will be available in the coming weeks.

The importance of offshore autonomy
The UK Department for International Trade has stated that “projected demand for Marine Autonomy is predicted to skyrocket to become a £103bn market by 2030 with conceivable applications in almost all marine environments”.

Growth opportunities lie across:
  • Offshore Renewables
  • Hydrocarbons
  • Defence and security
  • Shipping
  • Aquaculture

The global ocean economy is forecast to double in size in the same period.

Marine autonomy on and below the waterline will play a key role in monitoring offshore energy projects using USVs and AUVs.  The UK government’s Maritime 2050 strategy sets out its vision and ambitions for the future of the British maritime sector.

The strategy aims to achieve its goals by focusing on the following seven themes:
  • UK competitive advantage
  • Technology
  • People
  • Environment
  • Infrastructure
  • Trade
  • Security
