Join us on the 30th August for our next Global Underwater Hub Breakfast Club. This exclusive event is open to GUH members only and provides a great opportunity to network with like-minded professionals in the industry.
North Sea operators will be familiar with the concept of designing for retro-fit, only to be held up during the install phase due an ill-fitting design. Often this necessitates on-vessel modifications, or in some cases, a return to port to have the hardware re-worked to fit correctly. On no less than 20 occasions, Viewport3 has provided 3D data which enabled their partners to perform what we refer to as ‘wrap-around’ design – ingesting Viewport3 3D data and using it as the basis for a design that is based on real-world geometry, and ultimately leads to first-time-fit offshore. In today’s environment, with a drive to reduce vessel time and subsequent emissions, the improved install campaign efficiency of the ‘wrap-around’ design technique has become increasingly popular with Viewport3's customer base.
Viewport3 will present a small selection of case-studies from their ‘wrap-around’ design portfolio, including platform jackets, deformed pipelines, incorrectly identified equipment and items for which no drawings or CAD exists.
Using these case studies Viewport3 will demonstrate how its methodology has expedited install campaign schedules and improved reliability, often negating the mobilisation of high-cost contingency equipment and personnel.
SPEAKERS

RICHARD DRENNAN | VIEWPORT3
Richard is Aberdeen born and bred, a self-confessed technical geek, who is almost as passionate about automotive technology as he is about photogrammetry.
Richard’s technical career saw him rapidly progress from a trainee technician position to senior engineer over a 14-year period in the subsea control systems environment.
More commercial and customer facing roles followed, before Richard set up his own additive manufacturing business. His extensive experience in additive manufacturing, prototyping and 3d based design saw him carrying out projects for some of Aberdeen’s most high-profile companies.
After hours Richard enjoys motorsport, spending way too much time on an ‘80s sports car, and although he’d never admit it, indulging in his guilty pleasure – the history of science.
