Global Underwater Hub’s annual Cables conference returns for its 2026 edition in September and will once again drive discussion on a core aspect of offshore renewable energy development and in building energy security worldwide.

Cables 2026 will take place at the Energy Central Campus in Blyth on Wednesday, 9 September, bringing together key stakeholders from across the cable and energy industries.  Attend this leading UK conference and learn about the latest developments in cables and interconnectors manufacturing and protection, understand challenges around installation, inspection and maintenance, and discover more about planned projects and the size of the market opportunity.
 
 
Call for Abstracts

A call for abstracts is now open, giving you the opportunity to be part of the conference programme and present within the schedule.

 

Abstracts of 200-300 words are invited on the following topics:

Who should attend?
Cables 2026 will bring together stakeholders from across the underwater industry.  At last year’s event this included cable and ancillary product manufacturers, operators, renewable energy developers, government, ports, verification bodies, decommissioning specialists and engineering consultancies.

The event will allow you to meet and network with over 100 delegates including senior management, commercial managers, analysts, chief engineers and technical managers.
 
 
Pre-conference programme
As part of the official programme for Cables 2026, a series of pre-conference events will take place on Tuesday, 8 September.  This includes sites visits within the local area, a 1:1 curated networking event with the chance to book multiple quickfire meetings with key industry players, and a networking drinks reception.  Details are outlined below, including how to reserve your space at each.  Participation in all of these pre-conference events is included in the price of the conference ticket.
 
Morning site visits
All delegates to Cables 2026 have the opportunity to attend site visits taking place on the morning of Tuesday, 8 September.
 
Upon booking your ticket and confirming your interest in attending, you will be sent a registered interest form regarding the site visits, which must be completed and returned to GUH before 3pm on Tuesday, 25 August.
 
Please note that places are limited, so we will notify you if you have been successful in gaining a place.  Further details will then follow.
 
 
Curated 1:1 Networking Sessions
All delegates to Cables 2026 will have the opportunity to take part in our Curated 1:1 Networking Sessions, taking place on the afternoon of Tuesday, 8 September at Energy Central Campus. These quickfire 10-minute meetings will provide delegates with the opportunity to connect directly with a selection of end users and key industry players. 
 

Hosted within a dedicated meeting space within the Energy Central Campus, these structured one-to-one meetings offer: 

Focused 10-minute meetings with leading organisations 

Insights into priorities, innovation needs and collaboration pathways 

A managed, efficient format that maximises meaningful engagement 

 

The afternoon will include lunch and refreshments, as well as a chance to engage in open networking with other delegates and explore attending exhibitors a day before the all-day conference. 

 
Upon booking your ticket, you will be able to register your interest in participating in the sessions, with further information regarding the booking process and meeting allocations to follow. Please note that meeting availability will be limited, and additional details will be shared with registered participants in due course - including the line-up of meeting hosts/companies.
 
 
Evening welcome drinks reception
On the evening prior to the conference, Tuesday, 8 September, a welcome drinks reception will be held in Blyth, with spaces available on a first come, first served basis.  This will offer an excellent opportunity to network with delegates, speakers and sponsors in advance of the following day's conference. 
 
Details of how to reserve your place at the drinks reception will be provided once you have booked your conference ticket.

GUH Member: individual ticket for Cables 2026 £375 +VAT
Non-member: individual ticket for Cables 2026 £475 +VAT
 

Booking for this event is scheduled to close on Wednesday, 2 September at 12:00noon or before if the event sells out.  Please note that tickets are limited and may sell out before this date, so we encourage you to secure your place as soon as possible. Last year's conference (2025) was a sell out, therefore don’t risk missing out and get your ticket booked, today!

The Cables 2026 conference will take place at the Energy Central Campus in Blyth, situated at the mouth of the River Blyth and adjacent to the Port of Blyth.  Energy Central Campus is centrally located, with convenient transport links and ample parking.
