Funding Innovation: Opportunities for Growth in the Subsea Sector

Date: Thursday 17th September

Time: 9am-11am

Location: Global Underwater Hub, Newcastle

Join us for a networking breakfast exploring the opportunities available to subsea businesses looking to innovate, develop new capabilities and support their next stage of growth.

As businesses across the subsea sector respond to changing market demands, increasing competition and the need to develop new technologies and services, accessing the right expertise, partnerships and funding can play an important role in turning ideas into commercial opportunities.

This session, which is kindly sponsored by Innovate UK Business Connect, will provide an overview of current programmes and support available to businesses looking to develop innovative solutions and drive growth. We’ll explore how organisations can access industry expertise, collaborate with research and academic partners and identify opportunities that could help take new ideas and technologies forward.

Speakers & Topics:

Attendees to this morning event will hear from the following speakers:

Tom Warren, Knowledge Transfer Manager – Low Carbon Energy, Offshore Wind at Innovate UK Business Connect, who will introduce current industry opportunities and programmes, including Innovation Exchange (iX), Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) and the Wind Innovation Hub. Tom will provide insight into how these programmes work, who they are designed to support and how businesses can identify opportunities relevant to their own innovation and growth plans.

We will also be joined by a representative from UK Defence Innovation (UKDI) who will provide an overview of current defence funding opportunities available to subsea and maritime businesses looking to develop innovative solutions. This session will highlight live and upcoming defence innovation competitions relevant to the subsea sector including opportunities around telemetry data and maritime autonomous navigation. It will offer practical insight into how these funding routes work, who they're designed to support and how businesses can identify and pursue opportunities aligned with their own innovation and growth plans.
