Global Underwater Hub is hosting an Offshore Mooring and Anchoring Systems Conference and Workshop in Newcastle on Wednesday, 06 March 2024.
The event is part of a series of focused events which will deep-dive into the critical areas of opportunity and challenge within the underwater engineering space with a view on the changing market dynamic that a shift to offshore wind will bring. Following on from successful events in 2023 and a continued programme of work within the subsea cable space, GUH is bringing together key industry stakeholders to discuss underwater mooring and anchoring systems.
Throughout the day, a series of insightful presentations will focus on the key elements of the life cycle of mooring systems from developer requirements, survey and design considerations through manufacturing, installation and considerations for life of project IRM and future decommissioning.
This will be followed by a workshop aimed at drawing out the main areas of opportunity and challenge in the space. These will be brought together in a post-event report that will allow the industry and GUH to demonstrate the domestic and international opportunity that this supply chain can offer to global floating offshore wind projects.
Conference sessions and the afternoon workshop will focus on:
- Session 1 - Market overview and developer viewpoints
- With speakers from BlueFloat Energy and Global Underwater Hub.
- Session 2 - Survey, scope interpretation and design
- With speakers from Global Maritime and PGS Energy.
- Session 3 - Manufacture, transport and installation
- With speakers from Bridon Bekaert, Delmar, DOF, First Marine Solutions and SCHOTTEL Marine Technologies.
- Session 4 - Life of field
- With speakers from Flotation Energy, InterMoor (a brand in Acteon Group Ltd) and Ossian.
- Session 5 - Facilitated workshop sessions
Following the morning presentations, the workshop sessions will seek to draw on attendees knowledge, ideas and experiences of how the industry can collectively enhance the position of mooring and anchoring systems as a central component of floating offshore wind in the UK and internationally. By focusing on each of the elements of the life cycle, this allows opportunities, challenges and observations to be made from a variety of different viewpoints. The output from these sessions will be collected into a post-event report.
