Subsea Electrification - GUH & SICA Panel Session (Webinar)

Date: Wednesday 12th August
Time:  8am-9am UK / 3pm-4pm WA

Location: Online

Following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Global Underwater Hub (GUH) and Subsea Innovation Cluster Australia (SICA) in 2025, we are pleased to launch a joint panel series that will strengthen collaboration between the UK and Western Australian supply chains and offshore projects. The series will explore the key opportunities, challenges and topics shaping both regions. By focusing on a different theme at each session, it will highlight the similarities and differences in approaches to subsea operations and innovation, while creating opportunities for cross-hemisphere knowledge sharing and commercial collaboration.

Join us for the first session on Wednesday 12 August from 8am (UK) (3pm WA) where we will focus on the subsea electrification of new, existing and tieback assets and systems across multiple offshore energy sectors.

The event will be held simultaneously in Aberdeen, Scotland, and Perth, Western Australia via Microsoft Teams.

Who should attend?

Professionals from across the offshore energy supply chain with an interest in subsea electrification, including operators, developers, technology providers, contractors, supply chain companies, researchers and innovation organisations. The event is particularly relevant for those looking to better understand international market developments, share best practice and explore opportunities for collaboration between the UK and Western Australia.

Why attend?

This joint GUH and SICA panel series brings together stakeholders from across the UK and Western Australian offshore energy sectors to explore shared challenges, emerging opportunities and approaches to subsea electrification. Through cross-regional discussion and knowledge-sharing, attendees will gain valuable insight into how innovation and collaboration can support the future of subsea operations.

The session offers an opportunity for you to:

  • Expand your knowledge: Hear from industry experts on the latest approaches to subsea electrification across new developments, existing infrastructure and tieback assets.

  • Gain international perspectives: Compare how the UK and Western Australia are addressing common challenges and opportunities, and identify lessons that can be applied across regions.

  • Explore collaboration opportunities: Discover where knowledge-sharing, technology transfer and commercial partnerships can create value for both supply chains.

  • Build your network: Connect with industry leaders and peers from the UK and Western Australia, both in person and online.

  • Stay informed: Gain insight into the trends, innovations and strategic priorities shaping the future of subsea electrification across multiple offshore energy sectors.

Event Partner
SICA (Subsea Innovation Cluster Australia)
We're delighted to be partnering with SICA for this series. SICA is Australia's government and member funded industry cluster for the subsea and offshore technology sector, connecting operators, contractors, SMEs, universities and government agencies across three priority areas: oil & gas/IMR, defence & sovereign capability, and offshore renewables/energy transition. SICA holds a formal MOU with the Global Underwater Hub  establishing quarterly reviews and structured exchange of information, roadmaps, white papers and technical learnings between the two clusters. The partnership is a deliberate mechanism for cross-market knowledge transfer: it gives each cluster's members visibility of parallel developments in energy transition and critical underwater infrastructure/defence security, and a channel for joint innovation and grant-funded initiatives. This GUH-SICA panel session is a direct output of that MOU.
