Global Underwater Hub - Westhill
Global Underwater Hub and the Umbilical Manufacturers’ Federation will host their annual Umbilicals Conference on Tuesday, 11 November.
The one-day conference will take place in Westhill, Aberdeen, once again bringing together a range of stakeholders with an interest in the design, manufacture, installation and operation of subsea umbilicals.
Taking the theme of Umbilicals – The Dynamic Future Ahead, the conference will see discussion on a wide range of topics that affect the umbilical industry and the offshore energies sector. As the energy sector faces a dynamic and exciting future with new frontiers, markets and challenges, this conference is your opportunity to join the debate, share knowledge, ideas and experiences to help it drive forward successfully.
Programme outline
With the world’s energy industry once again in transition, targets are in place for global emissions to reach net-zero by 2050. To achieve this, the emerging floating offshore wind market is set to play a crucial role, while continued exploration of oil and gas, particularly in ultra-deepwater, will help maintain surety of energy supplies in the coming decades.

To achieve this, the emerging floating offshore wind market is set to play a crucial role, while continued exploration of oil and gas, particularly in ultra-deepwater, will help maintain surety of energy supplies in the coming decades.
The umbilicals and cables required to deliver the demands of floating offshore wind and ultra-deepwater production, in what are challenging subsea environments, will need to withstand significant and varying marine pressures. Knowledge and experience of subsea umbilicals and cables built up over decades of oil and gas exploration in the North Sea can be applied to help address future market challenges and opportunities.
This year’s Umbilicals Conference will provide a platform that:
- Showcases new technologies
- Discusses new and evolving markets and the opportunities they offer
- Reflects on lessons learned and how we share knowledge to improve operations
- Explores the role of umbilicals and the umbilical manufacturing supply chain in the energy transition
- Examines the safety, performance and reliability of umbilicals.
The one-day Umbilicals Conference, on Tuesday, 11 November, will take place ahead of the Floating Offshore Wind 2025 conference and exhibition in Aberdeen on Wednesday, 12 and Thursday, 13 November. It offers delegates an opportunity to extend their visit to Aberdeen and benefit from attendance at both events.
Speaking opportunity
This year marks the fifth Umbilicals Conference to be organised by Global Underwater Hub and the Umbilical Manufacturers’ Federation. It is once again expected to welcome a strong calibre of speakers, which in 2024 saw presentations from representatives of Alleima, BP, Fibron, JDR Cable Systems, Oceaneering, SEA Enterprises, Siemens Energy, Subsea7 and TechnipFMC.

Why attend?
The global umbilicals, risers and flowlines market is estimated to be worth in the region of $5billion annually, with further growth in the sector expected to come from the increase in offshore renewables and deepwater oil and gas exploration.

- Learn about new technologies and gain insight on emerging markets
- Share knowledge and discuss current challenges and how they can be overcome
- Network with colleagues from across the umbilicals industry and wider energy sector
Who should attend?
The annual Umbilicals Conference brings together stakeholders from across the umbilical industry and conventional and renewable energy sectors. With UK and international attendees, this focused conference offers a platform to learn about new developments, exchange insights and discuss current challenges and future market opportunities.
Previous delegates have included representatives of oil and gas operators, umbilical and cable manufacturers, polymer manufacturers, systems designers, engineering consultancies, subsea cable protection manufacturers, certification and classification bodies, umbilical installers, equipment manufacturers and service providers.
If you are involved in the manufacture, certification, installation, operation and engineering of subsea umbilicals, the Umbilicals Conference is an ideal platform for you to learn about new developments, discuss market challenges and opportunities, and network with industry colleagues
