Global Underwater Hub is holding its annual Underwater Robotics Conference on Thursday, 27 November, an event that is a central strand in the organisation’s programme of activity.
Underwater robotic technology has become an essential tool within the oil and gas sector, enabling safe, efficient and cost-effective operations. The technologies and their applications are now being utilised in many marine operations, including offshore renewables, defence, ocean science and aquaculture. Alongside remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), seabed crawlers, gliders and autonomous surface vessels (ASVs) or uncrewed surface vessels (USVs) are driving forward underwater robotic technology and its applications.
This one-day conference in Westhill, Aberdeen will bring together individuals with a vested interest in the development and application of underwater robotic technology. It offers an opportunity to learn from and network with colleagues working at the forefront of subsea robotic technologies.
Previous editions of the conference have welcomed representatives of oil and gas operators, subsea contractors, equipment manufacturers, service providers and many more, keen to share knowledge and experience that helps to keep driving forward this innovative industry.
Call for speakers
Global Underwater Hub is seeking speakers from across industry to present at its upcoming Underwater Robotics Conference. We are looking for individuals working in the underwater robotics and autonomous and unmanned underwater vehicles sphere – either developing or utilising the equipment – to help lead the debate and discussion at this one-day event in Aberdeen in November.
With technology advancing at pace, this is your opportunity to showcase the latest innovations, examine where robotics and autonomous vehicle technology will take users in the future, and discuss how artificial intelligence can be used to help improve efficiency, enhance data collection and widen potential uses.
Abstracts of 200-300 words are being sought around, but not limited to, the following three areas:
- Successful case studies highlighting how robotics hardware or peripherals have been used to help resolve an underwater problem
- Challenges faced by operators or developers in inspecting subsea assets that they think could be overcome by using robotics technology
- Insurance firms and regulatory or permitting bodies examining considerations for the use and application of ROVs, AUVs, UUVs and micro ROVs.
The deadline for submitting an abstract is Friday, 31 October 2025 at 15:00.
To submit an abstract, please complete the online submission form.
Why attend
The annual Global Underwater Hub Underwater Robotics Conference provides delegates with the opportunity to explore the wealth of possibilities offered by underwater robotic technology and how it can support the energy transition and contribute to efforts to tackle global warming.
The day will provide attendees with the opportunity to:
- Learn about the latest developments in underwater robotic technology
- Engage with key industry stakeholders
- Share knowledge, ideas and experiences with fellow attendees
- Gain insight on underwater robotic hardware and peripherals
- Find out about challenges and opportunities facing the underwater sector
- Discuss how advancing technologies can be harnessed for the future.
Conference programme
The conference programme is currently being finalised in consultation with Global Underwater Hub’s recently established Underwater Robotics Forum, which includes representatives from leading subsea service providers, technology manufacturers and inspection tooling specialists.
