CONSUB project nears completion, bolstering India’s energy independence

CONSUB has announced that the ONGC 98/2 project in India is now over 90% complete. The project, which includes 23 subsea wells producing to shore via an FPSO and a fixed platform complex, marks a significant achievement for CONSUB, and supports India in its goal to achieve energy independence.

In late 2018, CONSUB was approached to provide expert Project Management Consultancy to ONGC, India's state oil company, for its deepwater oil and gas project. Although new to the Indian market, the UK-based CONSUB, with offices in London, Aberdeen, Ireland, and Switzerland, embraced the challenge, leveraging its extensive project management experience in the oil and gas industry.

Despite initial cautions about entering the Indian market, CONSUB successfully navigated the challenges, including banking, taxation, GST (Indian VAT), and COVID-19 restrictions.

The project hit a major milestone in 2020 when first gas was achieved within one year of the award of the Project Management Consultancy contract, thanks to an accelerated program developed and supported by CONSUB. First oil was celebrated at the beginning of 2024, and there are now four wells in production.
