Environmental, seabed and coastal data capabilities advance across Venterra Group

06 April 2026

Recent activity from offshore services group, Venterra, reflects ongoing demand for environmental, geoscience and coastal data as offshore wind development progresses and project requirements become more technically detailed.

Venterra’s environmental company, INSPIRE Environmental, has established a permanent operational base in Aberdeen to support offshore projects across Scotland, the wider UK and Europe. The new location enables faster mobilisation for benthic and fisheries surveys, marine acoustic assessments and other environmental data requirements linked to consenting, construction and long‑term monitoring. As expectations for proportionate, regulator‑ready evidence continue to evolve, the expanded presence supports timely delivery of seabed and ecological insight for major offshore wind programmes.

Venterra’s geotechnical business, GeoForce has also reported new activity across its specialist geotechnical acquisition and analysis services. The company has launched an expanded geotechnical soil testing capability, including a 24/7 onboard soils laboratory and enhanced onshore testing, enabling end-to-end offshore site investigation from acquisition through to reporting.

The first project under the expanded offering was delivered for offshore survey company Sulmara, comprising a full geotechnical spread including cone penetration testing (CPT), vibrocorer operations and thermal resistivity testing. Additional recent contracts from N-Sea Group and Reach Subsea include seabed characterisation, sediment analysis and core penetration testing across different stages of offshore development. These campaigns reflect the sector’s need for high quality subsurface information to inform project design and reduce technical uncertainty.

In parallel, Venterra’s metocean specialist, Partrac, has received external acknowledgement for its contribution to health, safety and operational decision‑making in coastal and offshore environments. The company was recently named a finalist in the IIRSM Risk Excellence Awards for the innovative features of its V-LiDAR – the world’s most advanced floating LiDAR buoy fleet –, and separately commended by The Crown Estate for its role in supporting safe practice linked to environmental and metocean data collection during the Round 5 Celtic Sea Lease Area survey programme.

Across these updates, a consistent picture emerges: developers and operators are seeking more detailed environmental, seabed and coastal intelligence to inform project progression, construction activity and day‑to‑day offshore operations. As offshore wind zones become more complex and weather patterns more variable, reliable data is increasingly central to both planning and operational decision‑making.

The recent developments across Venterra Group illustrate the continued activity within these technical disciplines as part of the wider offshore energy landscape. Each business is contributing specialist expertise in response to project requirements, supporting the sector’s ongoing need for accurate environmental and geoscience insight.
