Shining a spotlight on Global Underwater Hub (GUH) members.
GUH caught up with Gordon Meadow, CEO at SeaBot Maritime.
What does your company do, and what role does it play in the subsea industry?
Gordon: "At SeaBot Maritime, we create impactful learning experiences and cutting-edge training that empowers maritime professionals to excel in complex, AI driven environments. Working closely with clients, we design tailored solutions that support uncrewed, autonomous, and intelligent maritime systems. Our end-to-end capability spans scalable digital platforms for online learning, e-learning, and 3D modelling, through to comprehensive training, operational assurance, and workforce development programs. These solutions enable customers to stay ahead in a fast-changing industry.
“We take a human centred approach to building AI competence and aligning autonomy with maritime needs. Our focus is on operational readiness, regulatory compliance, and workforce pathways that strengthen human expertise rather than replace it, ensuring crews manage AI enabled vessels with confidence.
"By combining advanced autonomy with immersive training, we help enterprise, defence, and commercial clients unlock digital transformation while enhancing safety, judgment, and sustainability, shaping a smarter, cleaner maritime future above and below the surface."
What excites you about the future of the subsea sector over the next 10 years?
Gordon: "The future of the subsea sector over the next decade is truly exciting, with complex decision support systems, AI, and digital innovations fundamentally transforming underwater operations. These advancements promise safer, more efficient, and more sustainable maritime activities worldwide. SeaBot Maritime is proud to support this evolution by building national resilience through our specialised training programmes and development of cutting-edge technology that supports the national supply chain.
"Being part of the Global Underwater Hub enriches this journey by fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing across the industry, helping the UK maintain its competitive edge in subsea innovation. Together, we’re shaping a skilled workforce ready to meet future challenges while supporting broader efforts to enhance the UK’s maritime capability and industrial strength.
"As the subsea sector grows in complexity and importance, our focus remains on ensuring that human expertise stays at the heart of this technological revolution, underpinning sustainable progress and national security."
How do you approach collaboration across the industry?
Gordon: "Collaboration is central to SeaBot Maritime’s approach to innovation.
“This year alone, we signed MoUs with Hefring Marine and Marine AI, each bringing advanced capabilities into our training programmes, from integrating Hefring Marine’s Intelligent Marine Assistance System (IMAS) into our high-speed USV training to incorporating Marine AI’s GuardianAI, to enhance navigation and situational awareness into training to support maritime innovation, workforce development, and global safety standards.
"We also secured an AI Security Institute (AISI) Systemic Safety Grant with King’s College London, one of only a minority awarded to an industry led project. This work defines the competencies needed for safe human AI collaboration in cyber physical systems, tackling risks like human deskilling as AI becomes embedded in commercial and defence maritime operations.
"By collaborating with technology innovators, academia, and industry, SeaBot Maritime ensures our training is operationally relevant, safety focused and aligned with the sector’s evolving needs."
How has being part of GUH supported your business?
Gordon: "It has been a real accelerator for SeaBot Maritime. It’s opened doors to influential networks across defence, commercial, and underwater sectors, helping us build relationships that amplify our impact. Access to GUH’s market intelligence and industry insights means we can stay ahead of emerging challenges and shape our training solutions to meet them upcoming industry demands. Their focus on skills and standards aligns perfectly with our mission to prepare the workforce for safe, effective operations in a technology driven sector, helping us boost our visibility and position SeaBot Maritime as a leader in human-centred digital transformation."
How do you think GUH helps raise the profile of the subsea sector?
Gordon: "GUH puts the subsea sector on the map and that’s a win for innovators such as at SeaBot Maritime. By championing the industry’s role in energy transition, offshore renewables, and marine sustainability, and amplifying success stories, connecting industry leaders with policymakers, and spotlighting opportunities that attract investment and talent.
