Our Members, Their Stories: Worldwide Mooring Products

23 April 2026

Shining a spotlight on Global Underwater Hub (GUH) members.

GUH caught up with Mark Prentice, Managing Director of Worldwide Mooring Products.

Worldwide Mooring Products are a technical business consultancy for the offshore energy industry specialising in all aspects of mooring components and installation for oil & gas and floating offshore wind.

What does your company do, and what role does it play in the subsea industry?

Mark: “Worldwide Mooring Products (WMP) is a mooring and technical consultancy supporting the offshore energy sector. The company focuses on the systems and equipment that keep floating assets secure and operating effectively in challenging marine environments.”

"In oil and gas, WMP provides specialist knowledge to support the selection and use of mooring equipment for MODUs, FPSOs and other floating assets worldwide. This work helps protect subsea infrastructure while ensuring assets remain safely positioned in harsh, deepwater conditions.

“WMP is expanding into offshore renewables, including floating wind, where it delivers mooring solutions designed to maintain stability in dynamic ocean environments.”

"Across both sectors, WMP plays a key role in maintaining positional integrity, reducing downtime and improving safety. Its expertise supports reliable station-keeping, which is essential for efficient subsea operations and the wider transition to more sustainable energy systems."

What are the biggest opportunities or challenges your company is focusing on?

Mark: "Our primary growth driver is the rapid expansion of floating offshore wind and other renewable energy projects. We are leveraging our 30+ years of oil & gas expertise to deliver innovative, cost-effective mooring solutions and knowledge for floating wind platforms. Key opportunities include supporting the scale-up of floating wind farms that require reliable station-keeping systems in deeper waters where fixed foundations are not viable.

“We provide trusted mooring insight that helps reduce levelised cost of energy (LCoE), improves installation efficiency and ensures long-term stability.”

"This aligns with the broader transition to sustainable energy, enabling reliable subsea and floating operations worldwide. The global shift toward offshore renewables is driving strong demand for advanced mooring technologies and we are well-positioned to capitalise on this through our manufacturing, forging and technical consultancy capabilities."

What excites you about the future of the subsea sector over the next 10 years?

Mark: "What excites WMP the most about the next 10 years in the subsea sector is the pace of change driven by floating offshore wind and the wider energy transition. We’re moving beyond traditional oil and gas into a phase where floating assets will operate at scale in deeper, more demanding environments.

"At WMP, that shift plays directly to our strengths.

“With more than 30 years of mooring experience, we’re well placed to support the move into floating wind and other offshore renewables.”

"There’s a real opportunity to apply our knowledge of chains, ropes, connectors and anchors to develop mooring systems that are both reliable and cost effective at scale.

“It’s not just about supporting new projects. It’s about helping improve efficiency, strengthen energy security and enable more resilient offshore infrastructure. That’s what makes this period so compelling, and it’s what drives our work every day.”

How do you think GUH helps raise the profile of the subsea sector?

Mark: "As a member, we benefit from strong industry connections, access to valuable market intelligence and the chance to contribute to strategic programmes focused on moorings and anchoring systems, areas that are critical to floating offshore wind.

“Global Underwater Hub helps raise our profile within the UK underwater sector, opening up new partnerships and opportunities across the renewables supply chain. It also supports our transition from oil and gas into the fast-growing floating wind market.”

"Their focus on positioning the UK as a global centre of excellence for mooring and anchoring technologies aligns closely with our ambitions. It gives us greater visibility, access to collaborative platforms and the insight needed to strengthen how we deliver innovative, reliable solutions for the energy transition."

How has GUH helped your team connect with others in the industry?

Mark: "We have benefited from invitations to exclusive GUH events, workshops and networking sessions, where we engage directly with industry leaders, potential partners and decision-makers. This strengthens our relationships across the UK supply chain and supports the kind of conversations that lead to new partnerships in the renewables sector.

“In short, GUH provides the platforms we need to build the connections that underpin our growth.”
