Global Underwater Hub - Westhill
Global Underwater Hub is holding its inaugural Offshore Late-Life Jacket Integrity Conference, in partnership with Rosenxt, in Westhill, Aberdeen on Wednesday, 12 March 2025. Online attendance options for this event are also available.
What will it cover?
Jacket technology was one of the cornerstone progressions that enabled the growth of the UK’s offshore industry. These towering structures have remained in operation in some cases long past their initial design life, enduring the harshest of weather conditions. As they approach late-life, assessing and understanding the structural integrity and capacity of jackets is a key requirement as owners consider their future, be it to continue late-life production operations, re-use for energy transition technologies such as carbon capture or preparing for decommissioning and removal.
With the revision of the ISO19901-9 Structural Integrity Management guidelines due to be released for consultation in 2025, this event offers practitioners in the industry the opportunity to convene and inform on latest developments. With the UK asset base being one of the most mature, the learnings from the conference will have global applications and relevance. Highlighting the importance of jacket integrity management across a range of late-life use cases, the event will bring together key industry stakeholders in a format designed to share experiences on challenges encountered, methods and technology solutions deployed and emerging technical trends in the industry.
Four sequential themed sessions are planned, drawing on a cross-section of case studies, technology developments and new applications. Each session will be followed by an open-floor Q&A with the presenters.
Session 1: Late-Life Integrity Challenges
- EnQuest - The Thistle Story
- BP - Conductor Guide Fatigue Cracking
- Serica - Project 2035 – Supporting Bruce Complex life extension with probabilistic RBI
- Kent - North Sea Platform - Inspection, Repair, Monitoring & Analysis: A bespoke integrity strategy
Session 2: Developments in ISO19901-9 standard to demonstrate Fitness for Service
- Rosenxt - ISO 19901-9, edition 2 – General Overview and the new SIM Assessment Framework
- BP - Proposed Updates for ISO 19901-9: Wave-in-deck load
- Rosenxt - Driving optimisation with the new Risk based Inspection (RBI) Framework in the upcoming ISO 19901-9, edition 2
Session 3: Intervention Methods for Fitness for Service
- DCN - Subsea jacket repair – full-habitat dry welding, micro-habitat dry welding, and wet welding
- Kent - Cost Effective Strengthening, (SMR)
- Fugro - Topside Online Monitoring for Jacket Integrity Assurance
- Aquatec - Live Strain monitoring in the splashzone
Session 4: Preparing for the future
- BP - Platform & pipeline bundle decommissioning challenges
- Energy Institute - Integrity management of decommissioned structures in 'lighthouse mode'
