Pinsent Masons to host seminar on cyber risks and data trends in energy sector

07 April 2025

Leading international law firm Pinsent Masons is set to host a breakfast seminar in Aberdeen, focusing on the evolving cyber risks and emerging data technology trends reshaping the energy sector.

Taking place on Thursday, 24 April at the firm’s Aberdeen office on Queen’s Road, the event will bring together legal experts and industry professionals for a morning of insight and discussion on how digital solutions and data innovation are transforming both traditional oil and gas operations and the broader energy transition.

The seminar will feature presentations on current and future technology trends, including how companies are leveraging cloud-based services and software-as-a-service (SaaS) platforms. Delegates will also hear about best practices for data sharing and governance, including a practical case study on effective Geographic Information System (GIS) data sharing across the energy supply chain.

In addition, the session will offer an update on artificial intelligence, showcasing real-world AI deployments in the energy sector and exploring evolving standards for AI-related contracts, compliance, and governance.

A significant portion of the seminar will focus on cyber security risks, a growing concern as the sector increases its reliance on digital infrastructure. Pinsent Masons will present key findings from its recently launched 2025 Annual Cyber Report, highlighting the most pressing cyber issues faced over the past year and how they impact energy businesses.

Topics will include third-party and supply chain risk, the shifting global regulatory environment, and recent developments concerning ransom payment policies and cybersecurity regulations relevant to the energy industry.

The event is tailored to in-house counsel and professionals in data, digital, and cyber specialist roles, such as Chief Technology Officers, Chief Operating Officers, and Data Protection Officers.

Featured speakers include Stuart Davey and Chris Martin, both Partners at Pinsent Masons.

The seminar will run from 08:00 to 09:30 BST at Pinsent Masons' Aberdeen office.
